ABOUT US

The MAIDS program aims to be an interdisciplinary graduate program that cultivates change makers who critically engage with development concepts and practices in Southeast Asia and the world. Graduate students can apply development knowledge and skills for societal changes while taking an ethical and grounded stand towards historical, contemporary, and future possibilities of development studies beyond anthropocentrism. 

The GRID program aims to be an interdisciplinary doctoral program that cultivates researcher who are knowledge co-creators, critically engaging with development theories and practices in Southeast Asia and the world. Graduate students can utilize their research abilities to create new body of knowledge for societal changes and lead in the field of international development studies, while taking an ethical and grounded stand towards historical, contemporary, and future possibilities of development studies beyond anthropocentrism.  

MISSION

The mission of the MAIDS-GRID program is 

  • To educate graduates with the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed for international development, focusing on human security and sustainable development. 

  • To advance knowledge in social sciences, particularly in areas related to international development. 

  • To promote academic collaboration with higher education institutions and research organizations both nationally and internationally. 

  • To become a leading center for knowledge creation and research in international development, with an emphasis on human security and sustainable development at regional and global levels. 

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

The current Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) for MAIDS-GRID align with those of Chulalongkorn University as follows:

The MAIDS program is currently in the process of revising the PLOs as follows: 

  • Analyze historical, contemporary, and future possibilities of development studies beyond anthropocentrism based on critical thinking and engagement with knowledge and theories in international development studies 

  • Apply appropriately international development studies knowledge in practice 

  • Implement research skills ethically for new knowledge production in the field of international development studies  

  • Engage critically and conscientiously in debates on social and ecological justice in international development studies 

  • Communicate analysis and recommendations on development issues using digital and non-digital media to diverse audiences 

  • Exhibit collaborative skills in a diverse context to become a change maker 

Likewise the revised GRID program PLOs are as follows: 

  • Argue historical, contemporary, and future possibilities of development studies beyond anthropocentrism based on critical thinking and engagement with knowledge and theories in international development studies 

  • Design original and ethical research that contributes to international development studies  

  • Produce new knowledge in international development studies  

  • Engage critically and conscientiously in debates on social and ecological justice in international development studies 

  • Communicate knowledge in international development studies using digital and non-digital media to diverse audiences 

  • Exhibit collaborative skills in a diverse context to become an effective knowledge co-creator.
