International Development Studies, Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University


The Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in International Development Studies Program (MAIDS-GRID) in the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University is seeking a motivated and committed individual to join our team as a Lecturer.

The responsibilities of the position are as follows:
1. Coordinate and teach the core course “Research Methods”
2. Coordinate and teach two optional MA-level courses on topics related to international development studies that reflect your research experience. We are open to all relevant topics, but particularly encourage applicants with expertise in post-development and/or gender and development.
3. Supervise at least three MA-level thesis per year
4. Undertake administrative tasks related to your role in the MAIDS-GRID program (join regular team meetings; assist in organizing field trips and public events, etc.)
5. Join the committee of the Center for Social Development Studies (www.csds-chula.org) to undertake research and publish one article in an international journal per year.
6. Undertake other reasonable tasks as assigned by the MAIDS-GRID Program Director and the Faculty of Political Science Executive.

The position offers a renewable one-year contract subject to performance evaluation, with visa and work permit for Thailand. The offered salary-level is based on the current Thai-government
regulations for an “international expert,” with supplementary payments for additional responsibilities
undertaken.

The expected competencies of the successful applicant are:
1. Hold a Ph.D. in any field related to Social Science
2. Teaching experience with graduate-level students
3. Committed to student-centered teaching at the MA and Ph.D. level, including the supervision of MA-level thesis
4. Motivated to undertake high-quality research in the field of international development studies, and publish in international academic journals
5. Familiar with working in a multi-cultural environment• Strong English-language skills
