This course runs in a trimester basis, and is designed for students to graduate within three years.

Regular application process selects eligible students through written exam and interview.
By applying through this channel, applicant may be able to apply to some scholarships provided by the graduate school. Please check with the graduate school for more detail.

Qualifications and Required Documents

Application submission period: 1 February - 30 April
Number of expected students: 10 (Including Regular Application Track)

Qualifications:
Plan 1.1 (Research Track)

  1. Earn Master’s Degree in Social Science or any related fields to International Development with GPAX at least 3.50

  2. English proficiency test score: TOEFL IBT 78; IELTS score of 6.0; CU-TEP score of 75. Exceptions can be made if consistent with Chulalongkorn University Regulations.

    (The official score report is valid only if the tests were taken no more than 2 years prior to the application deadline.)

  3. Experience in working or volunteering in the field of International Development is advantaged but not compulsory.

  4. Have at least one academic article in international database. If the publication is co-authored, the applicant should be the main author and must be able to identify their part of the publication. Other publication such as the annual report, research report, are accepted for consideration. 

  5. Other particular qualifications will be based on a specific announcement by the Graduate School in that particular academic year or has been approved from the Committee of MAIDS Program.

  6. Three recommendation letters: one must come from academic, the other two may come from your superiors or other kinds of expertise.

  7. Draft of Dissertation Proposal 1,500 – 2,000 words

Plan 2.1 (Research & Coursework Track)

  1. Earn Master’s Degree in any related fields with GPAX at least 3.00 or applicant is a current student, completing the MAIDS program with 12-credit coursework completed, and GPAX at least 3.50

  2. English proficiency test score: TOEFL IBT 78; IELTS score of 6.0; CU-TEP score of 75. Exceptions can be made if consistent with Chulalongkorn University Regulations.

    (The official score report is valid only if the tests were taken no more than 2 years prior to the application deadline.)

  3. Experience in working or volunteering in the field of International Development is advantaged but not compulsory.

  4. Passport photo

  5. Statement of Purpose (not exceeding 1,000 words)

EXTENSION PAST TRIMESTER 9
Students who cannot finish within the third trimester can extend their period of thesis writing on a trimester basis, by registering 0 credits for the Thesis course and paid fees according to Chulalongkorn University’s Regulations.

**The program will held either one domestic field trip, one international field trip, or both domestic and international field trips for each of the academic year. The trip will be held by taking into consideration, the safety and of the students and staffs, and suitability of surrounding events. Shall any force majeure event occur, the program may suspend, postpone, or cancel the obligation of hosting the field trip.

If student graduated within 3 years (9 trimester), the total cost for the program will be as follows:
Thai students: THB 826,500
International students: THB 1,372,800
